What is Sociocracy? How can we use it for more direct democratic practice?
Direct Democracy is an ideal. It seems to work in small groups but in large and dispersed groups, can we do direct democracy?
Sociocracy provides an answer.
This session will explore questions such as: what is it? does it work? do we spend all day in meetings? is direct democracy achieved?
A conversation between Peter Tait and Yolanda van Gellecum of Co-operative Bonds and the New Economy Network Australia (NENA). Co-operative Bonds was formed in 2018 with a simple but powerful idea: the organisation that builds capacity for co-operatives, mutuals, and other member-driven enterprises should itself be a co-operative. NENA is is a non-distributing cooperative of individuals and organisations working together to build a fair, sustainable, and democratic economy that serves people and the planet.
CAPaD is a member of NENA and convenes the Good Governance and Democracy Hub. This is a joint CAPaD and NENA event.
