What action are we asking our MPs to take for us in 2026?

In a representative democracy, our MPs are elected to work on our behalf in the policy and legislative decisions they contribute to in parliament.

They have to balance the local and national interests.

But how do they know what the local interests are, and how do these fit into the national interests?

CAPaD wants to try out a novel way to help the Canberra community itself and our MPs to discover the answers to these questions. More specifically the answer to: what action(s) would we like our MPs to focus on the 48th Parliament taking for this year (2026)?

Over summer 2025-26 we are using the app Pol.is to collect ideas from Canberrans to answer that question. We will report the outputs and bring our MPs and Canberrans together at this event to prioritise and discuss the actions.

More detail will be added to this page as the event planning progresses.

Meanwhile the Pol.is poll is active on our Activity page (What do we want our MPs to do? tab).
